THE MEANING AND

OUR HISTORY

WHAT DOES ‘I SUCK AT DRAWING’ ™ MEAN?

“‘I Suck at Drawing’ ™ means that you're able to let go of judgment, love yourself and others, regardless of circumstance, and skill. ‘I Suck at Drawing’ means that being the best at something isn't the end all be all, but being the best you is.”

‘I Suck at Drawing’ ™ wasn’t created as a result of its catchiness, but as a result of what it represents. ‘I Suck at Drawing’ ™ represents more than just one's willingness to admit one's strengths and weaknesses but speaks to one's understanding that being “bad” at something, sometimes and most times is the fastest route to that one “something” being really, unique. ‘I Suck at Drawing’ ™ meant I could be myself, ‘I Suck at Drawing’ ™ means we can all be ourselves and that will be more than enough. Our mission statement has and always will be,

“Put people first with a focus on “love”, give away gear like were infected with “swag-sydrome”, and rejuvenate the Clothing Industry to pay closer attention to people and communities with an actual focus on change and not profits.”.

As of April 2023,‘I Suck at Drawing’ ™ has approximately given away well over 4,500 stickers, as well as, over 400 shirts, hats, hoodies, pillows, air fresheners, etc., through the means of our Free Sticker Page, monthly events held locally, in conjunction with local businesses across the PNW, found on our Events and Giveaway Page. As well as our giveaways located on Instagram reels, @isadtmdotcom, or our Events & Giveaway Page.

HOW DID EVERYTHING BEGIN?

On June 29th, 2021 I hit a breaking point in creativity. I knew that creating new designs, patterns, and reinventing old styles would be frivolous. So, sobbingly and shakenly, I grabbed my iPhone, in a moment of defeat I drew with my finger, using, Draw Editor, “I Suck at Drawing”. Another try later, ‘I Suck at Drawing’ ™ was born. The very next day I bought an iron, some iron on transfer paper, and ironed out six white long sleeves, whereas, our logo was ironed on for the very first time. These were worn every second of every day for the following months of July, and August. From there, everywhere I traveled that summer, and everyone I met, would seem to comment on those four words, and I mean everyone. From the elderly waitresses at the Cracker Barrels in Montana, to the young folk of San Francisco’s nightlife, each person felt something when seeing our logo for the first time, and felt the need to share it. Saying something along the lines of, “Hey, me too!”, or even sharing that in fact they were artists currently or were at some point, enjoying the irony, and meaning behind owning all of oneself and poking fun at oneself.

That following month of September discovering that no one owned that trademark. I took action, buying it in multiple classes, but before ‘I Suck at Drawing’ ™ there was ‘Major Change’, and that’s where it all started. ‘Major Change’ or ‘Major Change The EP’ was an upcoming album idea, whereas the ‘JaCKeD SmiLeY’ logo was the album cover, further turning into ‘The JaCKeD SmiLeY Trucker’ that’s in our shop now. From there, the realization stated above, that designing anything else would be frivolous. Frivolous, meaning, frivolous to my strengths and goals, not anyone else's. I found out very quickly that becoming a fashion designer or the next Picasso was very far from a reality for myself. But becoming me, wasn't,

“‘I Suck at Drawing’ ™ wasn’t an attempt at a brand, it was a breaking point. A moment of vulnerability and honesty, whereas I had nothing else to give but myself. “
